Testimonies

In America drug use can start as early as age nine to eleven. The principle ways that children get drugs:  1. Parents introduce their children to drug use thinking that it is better that they experiment in the safety of the home and under parental supervision.  2. In many situations, children get to drugs that are already in their homes.  3. Older youth or adults get drugs for children.

Alcohol is a drug that can lead to the use of other drugs because of it’s mood altering capabilities.

The following is a paraphrase of the Reverend Jessie Jackson!

I visit four to six schools every week of my life.  I speak to three to five thousands of our children every day.  I ask them, if you know someone in your age group who is dead because of drugs – stand up?  About 25% of them stand up.  Then I ask them, if you know someone in your age group who is in jail because of drugs – stand up?  More than 50% of them stand up.  I ask them, if you know someone in your age group who take drugs – stand up?  Almost all of them stand up.”  When the teachers are asked if they know someone who takes drugs, their answers echo the children, almost all of them stand up.  When I ask if you know someone in your age group who has contemplated suicide, no fewer than 60% of our children stand up.  They have considered giving up their lives!

“This generation must stop the importation of drugs in America.”

Reverend Jessie Jackson
